I know the headline I have used may sound crazy. I know, it surprised you to read this headline. But it’s necessary to slow down to speed up. Let me tell you how.
I started believing this thought after going through lots of things in my life. And those lots of things have made me lose. I didn’t realise what to do. I was feeling confused. Too many pending projects, too many things to do at the same time, an undisciplined routine, no goal setting, poor sleep cycle, and only praying and hoping for a better life. But, I realised, I need to take ownership of my life. Because nobody comes to save you. You’re alone, responsible for your own life. If you think you want to speed up your life, here are the things I did, and you can do them too.
Use values as a compass: Most of the time, we become influenced by shiny success. But, we need to realise the capabilities and limitations we hold. Capability helps us to deal with challenges. And limitations are our reality that we can’t cross. When you are self-aware about your capabilities and limitations, you make wise decisions. You don’t want to go wrong. You don’t take on more responsibilities. You don’t take on many projects. You learn to delegate your work. You don’t win trust by lying to other people. You win trust by speaking the truth. You learn to say ‘no’ to other people. You don’t cross the boundaries. And that’s why you learn to stay organised, disciplined, honest, ethical, and you protect your reputation.
Up-careering: This is a new word you need in life. Up-careering is what most people don’t care about. Because most of them are busy upskilling themselves. If you’re doing a job, you need to find a better one. If you’re done completing one project, you need to move on to the next one. If you’re done publishing one book, you need to publish your next one. If you’re done releasing your song, you need to release your next one. No matter what you are, make sure you always choose better things next time.
Upcareering also means choosing discomfort. Upcareering means growing in your career. Growth means change. Changes mean challenges. Challenges mean unpredictability. Challenge means an exercise and a test of your capabilities. You’ll have to give yourself permission to make mistakes, face the pressure, and track the improvement.
Social Media Detox: We have entered the tech era. In this era, we can see technology upgrades every minute. And social media has become like oxygen in our lives. Social Media has been part of the everyday lives of this generation. Most of us are scrolling endlessly, and that is killing us. We are endlessly scrolling through social media for others and forgetting to live a better life. We are watching others being happy and enjoying their lives, and we are comparing our journey with theirs. This is nothing but killing your drive. You need to quit scrolling social media, stop consuming entertainment, and only focus on things that are helping you grow.
Get clarity:
Most people waste their energy and time overthinking and doing unnecessary things. Because they lack clarity, and a lack of clarity has been a big issue in their lives. No matter at what age you’re. Your thoughts shape your actions, and your actions shape your life. You need to be clear about your goals, roles, responsibilities, actions, and anything that is shaping your lives.
These are some steps that you need to take when you are slowly done in your life. You need to be slower, clearer, and then it will help you to be faster. It means being slower for some time will help you be faster.
